Hope Is Near

The other day I downloaded the SuSE 9.2 Live CD iso image. After burning it on CD I tested it on my Dell Dimension 8400 and — tata — things seemed to work. All my hardware was recognized including the new Intel controllers (ICH6 series). The module ata_piix was loaded and didn’t cause any problems. That’s some progress, since this didn’t happen with SuSE 9.1. I could successfully mount my partitions and run some applications from it. Everything seemed faster. The ultimate test will of course be when the software hits the hard drive. But… hope and therefore happiness is near.

Update: SuSE 9.2 will work just fine. “Click here”:/articles/2004/11/suse-92-and-dell-dimension-8400/ to read the report.
